Andrei Boncea has more than two decades of experience in film and television production and more than a decade in managing MediaPro Studios, the largest studio complex in Romania and one of the largest in Eastern Europe.

During his tenure as Chief Executive Officer of MediaPro Studios and MediaPro Pictures, the production company of the group, he oversaw in various capacities (producer, co-producer, executive in charge of production) the making of more than 70 movies and television series, including “AMEN” directed by Costa Gavras, “Callas Foreverr by Franco Zeffirelli, Academy Award nominee “Joyeux Noel”, by Christian Carion, “Modigliani” starring Andy Garcia, by Mick Davis, “Zero Theorem” by Terry Gilliam, “Blood Creek” by Joel Schumacher, “Ces-Amours La” by Calude Lelouch, “Charlie Countrymen”, by Frederik Bond.

Many prominent international directors debuted in productions shot in Romanian studios and executive produced by Andrei Boncea, including French cult horror director Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes, Mirrors), who directed his breakout movie, “Haute Tension”, or the action director Pierre Morrel (Taken) who directed in the studios the Luc Besson produced “Banlieue 13” (District 13).

Andrei Bncea managed the studios development from the transition of an old 4 sound stages state studios complex in Buftea, Romania to a 15 stages modern facility, including 2 stages of 3500 sqm and one of the biggest indoor water tanks in Europe at 1800 sqm. These improvemenst were made during the production of “The Cave”, directed by Bruce Hunt for Sony Screen Gems in 2005.
Andrei Boncea developed and produced several Romanian movies and television series, including the acclaimed “California Dreamin’” by Cristian Nemescu, who won Un Certain Regard Award in Cannes in 2007 and many other international prizes in festivals around the world.
